Fairway Laser Systems Kicks Off Workshop Series

Epilog Laser distributor Fairway Laser Systems announces the dates of its upcoming workshop series—four-hour classes covering a variety of laser engraving-related topics at its headquarters, 950 Transport Drive in Valparaiso, Indiana.

The Back to School Laser Workshop Series schedule kicks off with CorelDraw Basics on Friday, August 18, at noon. Geared toward new owners or those with little CorelDraw experience, the class focuses on the most commonly-used drawing tools and techniques in this industry software staple. Experts will walk attendees through simple text creation and placement, quick editing of premade graphics and clipart, and breaking and modifying of graphics and texts. The goal of this class, the company explains, "is to lay a foundation of understanding of the frequently-used tools every laser owner should know."

Fairway will focus its next class on photo engraving exclusively. Beginning at noon on September 29, Working with Photos covers the ins-and-outs of photo manipulation, as well as the best materials to achieve the highest quality engraving. "Above all," the company notes, "it will focus on using EngraveLab PLP to make photo engraving as simple as a few clicks."

For those designers seeking more advanced training, Fairway presents the Advanced CorelDraw workshop on October 27. For those that already have a basic background in CorelDraw, this class will focus on the more advanced tools and techniques used in conjunction with your laser system. Beginning at 12 p.m., the four-hour class will explore redrawing graphics, tiling images for large jobs, setting up jigs and fixtures for multiple engravings, setting up color-mapped jobs, and more. “For those that have a basic background in CorelDraw, the Advanced Basics workshop is for those that want to dive deeper than simple text and clipart to take their cutting and engraving work to another level,” the company says. Basic Corel knowledge is encouraged.

The schedule will conclude with Fairway’s Laser Maintenance Class on November 17, covering how to keep your laser system running like new with proper maintenance and cleaning techniques.

Registration for each course is $49 and the company encourages attendees to bring a laptop.
