Term of the Week: PPI (Pulses Per Inch)

The Term of the Week is a weekly feature where A&E turns to industry experts to define common tools, processes, language, etc. used in the awards, engraving, and personalization industry, including terminology within the business realm. Contact Printwear's digital content editor, Marley Jeranko, if you're interested in contributing and for an opportunity to be featured in our daily eNewsletter.

Pulses per inch refers to the number of times a laser beam will pulse in a one-inch area. It controls quality of an image for the horizontal motion. In general, the PPI should match the image's DPI. See DPI (Dots Per Inch).
