As we find ourselves in the social media age, competition hits us from all sides. This makes us stronger, but also breaks down barriers that would otherwise prevent our trying new things or taking chances that we might not have otherwise taken. Things move faster today because there are more engines driving society than ever before. In today’s Twitterverse and Facebook Age, we are constantly challenged by the actions of those around us. This challenges us to try new things and experiences. These actions and experiences create an inner fire that strengthens us like never before.

Driving us to achieve new things is information that compares us to others. In the past, this was not readily available. Today it is everywhere and motivates our inner competitive spirit. Competition drives us to achieve. Awards exist to recognize and motivate. That fact that the two go hand-in-hand is inescapable. Awards create the systems of measure that guide our life. We use the information we obtain to grow ourselves in comparison to those around us. Awards are the end result of the best efforts of our competitive spirit and are used to keep competition in play.
