Headlines are the key to effectively reaching an audience with a message. And they apply to almost everything we do with our internet marketing strategies.
For example, which email subject line would compel you to open it and read more?
- Your employees deserve an award this year. See what we have to offer.
- You’ve been doing it wrong, your employees really deserve awards like this!
Headline number one gives it to them straight, but headline number two triggers curiosity.
Which one of these social media posts would get your attention?
- We just received a great review from [insert customer here], click here to read it.
- You won’t believe what [insert customer here] has to say about our products and services. Click here to find out!
Again, triggering curiosity and putting some thought into the headline makes a world of difference in terms of generating interest.
Getting a feel for writing headlines that generate email opens or clicks on social media can make a huge difference in the success of your marketing efforts. Learning the simple tricks can be as easy as following the news and/or the interests you follow online.
Be aware of the headlines and social media posts you click on. What was it that made you take that action? What piqued your interest to learn more? Take notes and apply them to your headline writing skillset.
