If we burn the candle at both ends in our business lives, it disallows us quality time outside of work. At the same time, there is a good chance that we will ultimately burn out and, as a result, our work suffers. The quality of that work can actually be enhanced by what we do outside of it. Taking time for things other than work is an important part of life balance and running a business.
This is where it becomes important to find things outside of the comfort zone that we are all used to and find new avenues to escape to. Stepping away from the business helps in gaining better perspective for decision making and gives us the ability to see the big picture again.
Whether we find new hobbies, join new groups or clubs, take on new physical challenges, spend time volunteering, or take regular mini-vacations, getting away from our businesses is as important as the time we spend in them.
