I apply the “3-click-rule” to all websites I design and develop. My goal is to have the website visitors take 3 clicks or less to find what they’re looking for, add it to a shopping cart, and place an order or make contact for more information. When marketing to mobile users, clicks become taps. Browsing becomes swipes. The amount of real estate you have is on a much smaller scale and the site must deliver at speeds that cross a wireless connection efficiently. The 3-click-rule seems even more applicable now that we’ve reached this type of environment.
