Two basic photo preparation techniques will create a dynamic-looking engraved product. In an editing program like Corel Photo-Paint, use the MagicWand and Eraser tool to knock out the background. Then use the Tone Curve tool to create the proper exposure in the photo. Enhancement software such as PhotoGrav, One Touch or Photo Laser Plus are also helpful. (Image 1)

Once you have prepared the design, follow these four steps to engrave the photo on metal:

  1. Apply CerMark (SUS 030) to the stainless steel plate. Hold the spray can 8-10 inches away from the plate and apply a thin and even coat. Allow to dry to the touch in about 15 minutes. (Image 2)
  2. Import the processed photo into CorelDraw.
  3. Engrave the CerMark coated stainless steel plate.
  4. Wash the stainless steel plate with water to remove the un-engraved CerMark coating. (Image 3)
