Hello kudoslaser,
Excellent question, for over 23 years of working with lasers I too find myself wondering the same question; what new information is in the market to make my job easier? CorelDraw and other software packages like EngraveLab Laser do an excellent job at outputting vector files. Most of our experience is with EngraveLab software which has been very positive; the software has several features specially design for the engraving industry and a great support team, we are proud dealers of their software. For years, clients preferred the raster-to-vector module that was included with EngraveLab Laser, Expert, or Pro packages, some just wanted to buy the module alone to vector raster files. Today I found another feature for lasers which are the Lead-in/lead-out function that is great for cutting acrylics or other materials (see our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Jorlinkdotcom). Just remember that in either software package you will need to run vectors as outline tools, usually with a width of .003” or as a hairline in order for your laser to recognize it as a vector image. Feel free to send us an e-mail or post a question to our site at Jorlink.com and we can create videos that will be posted on our YouTube Channel.
Regards,
