Question

How can I change the starting point, or node, of a curve?

Answer

Hello rlmoncada,
Thanks for the inquiry. I often learn something new from readers' questions. Changing the node start position may not be high on most wish lists, but it does have practical application along with reverse direction.
When engraving, the machine will begin at the starting node which is determined either automatically when using dynamic tools such as the Rectangle and Oval tools or by the user when utilizing the Bezier tool and determined by the first node created when constructing an object. The machine will also engrave in the direction the shape was constructed.
You can reverse the direction of an object by marquis, selecting it with the Shape tool and clicking the Reverse Direction icon in the Properties bar above the page.
The starting node will either be larger than all of the other nodes or in the shape of an arrow pointing in the direction the shape was constructed in, depending on version and zoom level.
You can change the starting node in a shape that was manually constructed using the Bezier tool, by clicking on the desired start node and clicking on the Break Curve icon in the Properties bar. As the line is broken, that single node will become two nodes sharing exactly the same position, one on top of the other. To select both, it is necessary to marquis select the one that is visible which will automatically select the one underneath as well. Then click on the Join Curves Icon in the Properties bar. This node will now be the new start point.
For dynamic shapes such as those created with the Rectangle or Oval tools, it will first be necessary to go to Arrange/Convert to Curves after selecting the object. Then proceed as above.
I hope this helps.
