Multiples and the Economy of Scale

Glass etch

Etching jobs come in many shapes and numbers, and doing a job that involves multiples is certainly not a favorite of mine. Maybe I should clarify that: doing 24 Champagne flutes is not a big deal, but when we start talking about hundreds, I usually have to brace myself a bit. That is exactly the type of job we are working on right now: 600 candle holders for an embassy in Washington, D.C. The glass candle holders are square with an area of roughly 4" x 4". The glass is clear but was painted on the inside with black paint. We are etching just one side of the candle holder with a geometric pattern. After we have completed the etching, the candle holders will be shipped to the candle manufacturer, filled with the candle wax, and then boxed up.
