Out with the old, in with the new? Not so fast. The styling of the past is being brought back in new ways for color use on products from home décor to photo gifts. The new Pantone® Fall colors include warm and traditional dark tones as well as a few bright embers that will pop. Honeysuckle, the color of the year for 2011, is a vibrant pink that can be mixed and matched with an array of colors. The warm browns and deep teal will have shoppers feeling warm and cozy while in your retailer store, shopping online and at home.
The Spring 2011 Pantone palette is typically used as the groundwork for the Fall palette, and it becomes visually apparent that color has made a comeback to be paired with traditional, versatile hues. The Fall 2011 Pantone guide offers ten colors that can refresh your product offerings, from promotional to wearables for the holiday season, décor, photo gifts or award and recognition items.

PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle – Color of the Year
Bamboo: A mustard yellow hue that you’ll find in the fall leaves. This will mix well with Coffee Liqueur or Deep Teal.
Phlox: A strong, deep shade of purple wine that is perfect for this season. It can be paired with Cedar (a tone of green) or given a bit more feminine touch with Honeysuckle.
Deep Teal: The fun, bright color given a sophisticated fall twist. Masculine and feminine tones make it a hue that can be used on an array of design options, from photo frames to business awards and recognition.
Orchid Hush: One of the lightest and coolest tone hues in this Fall palette. This grey-lavender color gives the light of white without a stark contrast. Nougat and Quarry also accompany Orchid Hush for the light tones of the palette.
Coffee Liqueur: This warm brown shade gives a sense of a steamy cup of your favorite joe or hot chocolate. One of the darkest shades in this season’s palette, Coffee Liqueur will no doubt become a favorite shade to use for home decor products. This hue pairs well with any of the other fall 2011 colors.
Emberglow: A definite fall fiery pop in the fall color palette. This color has coral undertones, giving it a splashy feel during the cold and gray months that will be upon us. When used with Honeysuckle, your customers might just be ready for a tropical getaway or the perfect combination for promotional items to get attention for a school fundraiser!
Fall home décor designs note using Ember Glow, Nougat, Deep Teal and more from the Pantone Fall Color Report.
Quarry and Coffee Liqueur, among other Pantone Fall colors, can be seen in nature. |
Cedar: No dark forest green hue this season. Cedar is a versatile light olive shade. For more conservative custom gift items, you can use Cedar and Coffee Liqueur together (or Bamboo), or for the more wild crowd, pair it with Emberglow.
Nougat: This warm beige tone can participate in many color combinations. It has a level of flexibility that can create different moods when used with Phlox or Deep Teal. At first glance, it has a dusty feel of cowboy suede on a cool fall night. Nougat is another great option when you need to add a bit of light to a design for photo gifts.
Quarry: Pantone refers to this hue as “a reliable medium gray…” yet there’s a hint of a cool green-blue tone that can’t be denied. Keep quiet with Orchid Hush and Nougat or place Quarry in a combination with Honeysuckle or Cedar & Coffee Liqueur.
Honeysuckle: A dramatic hue and also the Pantone color of the year for 2011. This bold & playful hue can be the exclamation in a design with Emberglow and Bamboo or be used with more classical hues such as Coffee Liqueur.
